Choosing
The quietest are Ivory Plain, Whisper Cream, Pale Rib and Ribbed Cream, which are barely patterned at all. Corner Fan, Wide Fan, Sand Fan, Nested Arc and Single Arch sweep curved lines across the mat. Labyrinth, Grid Panel, Contour Line, Fine Wave, Diagonal Rib, Chalk Rule and Grey Rule are the linear ones. Daisy, Pebble Form and Circle Overlay are the only figurative designs.
Six designs carry printed wording. The Checker family, in Cream, Blush, Taupe, Cocoa, Grey and Silver, has a chequered border and the words Romantic Immortality set in Gothic script across the centre. The photographs show it in full. If you want a mat with nothing written on it, choose from the other nineteen.
Choosing a size
40 x 60cm is a single standing spot. 50 x 80cm covers a sink and the counter beside it. 90 x 60cm suits a wider galley. The 60 x 120cm runner takes the length of a kitchen or a hall.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth as things land on it, and vacuum on a low setting. Cool machine wash and dry flat. Lift it occasionally and dry the floor underneath, since anything trapped under a non slip backing stays wet.
