Description
Description
A clear acrylic mill with a ceramic grinding rotor in the base, plain enough to stay on the table rather than be put away after cooking. The clear body means you can see what is in it and how much is left, and the shape is simple enough to sit with any china. It is one of the more practical pieces of Lumen & Loam tableware, and one of the least trouble to own.
Ceramic does not rust and does not carry a taste, so the same mill handles peppercorns one week and sea salt the next. Coarseness adjusts by turning the nut at the top, from a fine dust through to a coarse crack. The lid comes off to refill from the top. Each mill is sold singly and supplied empty, so you can run a pair for salt and pepper or keep just the one.
Three heights: 4, 5 and 6 inches. The 4 inch is the one that travels, in a picnic basket or a camper kitchen. The 6 inch holds the most and needs refilling least often. The 5 inch is the everyday compromise and the one most people reach for. Wipe the body with a damp cloth, keep the ceramic rotor dry, and keep the mill out of a dishwasher, because trapped water turns the next grind into a paste.

Plain Enough to Stay Out
A clear acrylic mill with a simple shape that sits with any china. It stays on the table after cooking instead of going back in a cupboard.
Fine or Coarse, Your Call
Turn the nut at the top to set the grind, from a fine dust to a coarse crack. The ceramic rotor handles peppercorns one week and sea salt the next without a trace of either.
Three Heights
The 4 inch travels in a picnic basket, the 6 inch holds the most, and the 5 inch is the one most people reach for daily. Lumen & Loam sells each mill singly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it for salt as well as pepper?
Yes. The ceramic grinding rotor does not rust and does not carry a taste, so the same mill handles peppercorns and coarse sea salt equally well.
How do I adjust the coarseness?
Turn the nut at the top of the mill. Tighter gives a fine dust, looser gives a coarse crack, and anywhere between is yours to set.
How do I refill it?
Lift the lid off and fill from the top. The clear body shows exactly how much is inside so you know when it is time.
Which height should I choose?
The 4 inch is the one that travels, the 6 inch holds the most and needs refilling least often, and the 5 inch is the everyday compromise most people pick.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the acrylic body with a damp cloth and keep the ceramic rotor dry. Keep it out of the dishwasher and the grind stays crisp every time.
