Description

A deep pile bath mat made from chenille cord tufted into rows, so the surface is a field of soft loops rather than a flat weave. Stepping out of a shower onto it feels like standing on something substantial, and that depth gives a plain bathroom the softness tile and glass take away. Lumen & Loam offers it in two quiet colors, Sand and Ash, both easy to live with and neither of them fussy.

The cord is what does the work. Wet feet sink in and the loops pull water off them, which is the whole job of a bath mat and one that thin flat mats do badly. The backing grips, so it does not travel across a wet floor when you step off it. It is machine washable, so it can go through a cool cycle as often as the towels do.

Three sizes: 43 x 61cm, 46 x 77cm and 61 x 92cm, the largest covering the length of a standard bath. Put it beside a bath or shower, in front of a basin, or at a bedside where you want something soft underfoot first thing. Wash cool and hang or lay it flat to dry; skip a hot tumble dry, which mats the pile. Shake it out when dry and the cord stands back up.

Frequently Asked Questions

How absorbent is it?

Very. The deep chenille loops pull water off wet feet the moment you step on, so the floor beyond it stays dry.

What sizes and colors are available?

Sand and Ash, in 43 x 61cm, 46 x 77cm and 61 x 92cm. The largest covers the full length of a standard bath.

Will it slide on a wet floor?

No. The non slip backing grips tile and vinyl, so it stays exactly where you step off the shower.

Can I use it outside the bathroom?

Yes. It works beautifully at a bedside or in front of a basin, anywhere you want something soft underfoot first thing in the morning.

How do I wash it?

Cool machine wash as often as the towels, then hang or lay flat to dry. Skip a hot tumble dry and give it a shake when dry and the cord stands right back up.
