Description

A pair of small glass shakers with metal caps, one marked salt and one marked pepper in a fine script. On a laid table they read as tableware rather than kitchen equipment, and the clear glass shows how much is left, which is the whole argument for glass over a solid ceramic shaker. A neat, unfussy pair from Lumen & Loam for a table you eat at every day.

Each shaker has a glass body and a stainless steel cap that unscrews for refilling and for washing. They are sold as a pair, one salt and one pepper, and supplied empty. Four finishes are offered: Domino pairs one black shaker with one white so the two are told apart at a glance; Sterling leaves the glass clear under a brushed steel cap; Onyx and Alabaster are matched pairs in a single color.

Keep them on a dining table, a kitchen island, or beside the hob within reach while you cook. Hand wash and dry the glass fully before refilling, because salt draws damp out of the air and cakes in a shaker that went back together while it was still wet. They are small enough to leave out permanently, and plain enough that you will want to.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I refill them?

Unscrew the stainless steel cap from the top, fill the glass body, and screw it back on. They arrive empty so you can fill them with the salt and pepper you prefer.

How do I tell salt from pepper?

Each shaker is marked in a fine script, and the clear glass shows what is inside. The Domino finish pairs one black and one white shaker so you can tell them apart at a glance.

What are they made of?

A glass body with a stainless steel cap. The glass shows the contents and the steel cap keeps its shine through daily use.

How do I clean them?

Hand wash the glass and cap and dry them fully before refilling. Salt draws damp from the air, so a dry shaker keeps it flowing freely.

Are they small enough to leave on the table?

Yes. They are compact and plain enough to stay out permanently on a dining table, a kitchen island or beside the hob within reach while you cook.
