Seagrass Wicker Basket

Hand-woven from seagrass into a belly shape, this basket has the pale, slightly uneven texture that only natural fiber gives. The wide body and narrower rim make it look full even when it is half empty, and it works just as well holding a potted plant as it does blankets. Lumen & Loam reaches for it when a room needs warmth at floor level rather than another hard surface.

The weave is seagrass over a wicker structure, firm enough to stand on its own and light enough to carry with one hand. It folds down when empty for flat storage. Used as a planter, it makes a cover for a plastic nursery pot rather than a waterproof vessel, so keep a saucer inside it. Used as a laundry or toy basket, the open top means no lid and no fuss.

Seven sizes are offered, from a 13 x 15 x 17 cm pot cover up to a 30 x 37 x 38 cm floor basket and an extra-large size, so baskets can be matched as a set or mixed for variation across a room. Dust with a dry brush and spot clean with a barely damp cloth, and do not soak natural fiber, letting it dry fully if it does get wet. Stand one beside a sofa for throws, one in a corner under a large plant, and one by the washing machine.
