Description

Solar Deck and Step Lights are small flat fittings that screw to a fence board, a deck riser or a step and pick out the edge rather than lighting the whole space. Used in a run, they turn a dark set of steps into something you can see without resorting to a floodlight. Lumen & Loam keeps them for the practical, understated end of garden lighting.

Each light is solar powered and switches on automatically at dusk. There is no wiring at all; the unit screws straight to the surface and charges through its own small panel, so one shaded light does not take the others down with it. Around six hours of direct sunlight gives a full charge. The LED count changes the spread: one LED gives a single soft pool, two and three widen it.

Choose 1, 2 or 3 LEDs in warm white or white, sold as a single, a pair or a set of four. Warm white is the softer, more domestic tone; white is brighter and more functional. Fit them to deck risers, fence posts, step edges, a garden wall or the side of a shed. Space them evenly and keep them low, since the point is to show the edge rather than to light your face.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install them?

Each light screws directly to a fence board, deck riser or step with the included fixings. There is no wiring at all, so a run of them takes only a few minutes. See our Lighting Guide for color temperature, brightness and placement advice.

How much sun do they need?

Around six hours of direct sunlight gives a full charge, and each light has its own small panel, so they keep working independently of each other.

What is the difference between 1, 2 and 3 LEDs?

One LED gives a single soft pool of light for marking an edge. Two and three LEDs widen the spread, which suits broader steps and longer fence runs.

Should I choose warm white or white?

Warm white is the softer, more domestic tone and suits timber decking. White is brighter and more functional for steps you use every night.

How many come in a pack?

You can buy a single light, a set of two or a set of four, so it is easy to match the number of steps or posts you want to light.
