Description
A plain turned candlestick in unfinished wood, sold singly in three heights. The grain is bare, so it can be painted, stained or waxed straight away, or left raw to darken with age. It is a quiet shape that suits almost any table, and the unfinished surface is part of the appeal: it looks like real wood rather than a coated copy of it. A simple Lumen & Loam staple to build a group from.
Each is turned from natural wood with a base about 5.7cm across, wide enough to stand steady on a table. The cup fits a standard taper candle. Unfinished wood varies, so grain, tone and the odd small knot differ from piece to piece. They are sold as single candlesticks rather than sets, which is how you end up with a collected group rather than a matched pair that came in one box.
Three heights: 10.5cm, 12.5cm and 20cm. Three heights grouped together read better than one on its own, a pair either side of a mantel works, and the tall one holds its own in the middle of a table. Use it on a dining table, a hall console or a windowsill, clear of curtains and anything that catches. Never leave a burning candle unattended; keep away from flammable materials.

Real Wood, Left Raw
The grain is bare, so it looks like real wood rather than a coated copy of it. Leave it to darken with age, or paint, stain or wax it the day it arrives.
Three Heights, One Group
At 10.5, 12.5 and 20cm the three heights are made to stand together. Grouped on a table or a mantel they read as collected rather than bought in a box.
A Quiet Staple
A plain turned shape that suits almost any table. Lumen & Loam sells each one singly so you can build the arrangement you want, one stick at a time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I paint or stain it?
Yes, that is the point of leaving it unfinished. The bare wood takes paint, stain or wax straight away, or you can leave it raw and let it darken naturally.
What candle does it hold?
A standard taper candle sits in the cup. Candles are not included so you can choose your own color and length.
Which heights work together?
All three grouped together read better than one alone. A matched pair works either side of a mantel, and the 20cm tall one holds its own in the middle of a dining table.
Will every piece look the same?
Grain, tone and the odd small knot vary from piece to piece because the wood is natural and unfinished. That variation is part of the appeal.
Is it stable on a table?
Yes. The base is about 5.7cm across, wide enough to stand steady on a dining table, hall console or windowsill. Keep it clear of curtains and never leave a burning candle unattended.
