Wooden Cookbook Stand

A folding wooden stand that props a cookbook or a tablet open at the right angle on a worktop, then flattens to slide into a drawer. Two crossed pieces, no hinges and no hardware, which is why there is nothing on it to break. The construction is as simple as it looks: two pieces cross and hold each other open under the weight of the book. It measures about 21.5cm wide and 16.5cm deep, and it folds flat for storage. It holds a cookbook, a tablet or a recipe card, with no assembly and no fixings. It sits high enough to read from standing, which is the whole reason to use a stand rather than laying a book flat on a counter.

One finish, dark stained wood. Use it on a worktop while you cook, on a shelf to display a favorite book face out, or on a desk. Keep it back from the hob and out of standing water, since stained wood marks where it stays wet. Wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it straight away.
